Many users woke up one morning and realized the app was looking funny, with no memory of ever accepting an urgent update the night before, and most of you didn’t, but you were hit with the surprise anyway.

UI Colour Scheme

WhatsApp switched to a green and white for real this time. Ok, maybe there’s a bit of an exaggeration here, isn’t there? Because WhatsApp has always been green and white (more or less) but hey, not like this. The white colour scheme with the green headers is a game changer and it kind of brings a soft touch to it.

Pinning Messages and a Persistence Search Bar

Who wouldn’t like to pin more than one message, in fact wouldn’t you like to pin 3? You can do this now. You can pin 3 messages, and the pinned messages are visible to all who participate in the conversation. Your pins however will have 30 days to live at max, so start doing that now and start your count-down.

The Persistent Search Bar at the top is here to stay with suggestions that remain there for as long as you need them. The search icon doesn’t get to disturb you much, it consumes the whole of your header during a search but just an icon before that.
