HTTP Status Codes Worth Knowing About in 2023

Next time you see the 404 status code you should know exactly what it means.

There are over 50 response codes divided into 5. Knowing what each family of response code means is very useful, status codes also referred to as response status codes are 3 digit number response from a server to a browser, that in the end is interpreted by you, the user.

These are three digit numbers but the first two digits usually tell us what we need to know.

The 200 digit code is a good sign and your favourite code. The only reason why you may not be familiar with it in comparison with the rest is that it only shows when everything is OK. But, your browser barely shows it, instead you get access to the requested page.

So, every time you try to open a web page and you manage you view the site know that your browser received a 200 status code response. This is how you managed to view medium.com and every other platform you had access to today.

The 100s
These are not seen as frequently as the others that follow but, when they show up they are usually accompanied by a different type of response code. So these usually mean more information from a server is expected. Receiving 100/101/103 code is usually a good sign because something else…
