The promise of AI chatbots has piqued the imagination of many people, including those who haven’t personally encountered them. The emergence of generative AI models, on the other hand, has generated additional dangers and hazards.

Recent conversations on dark web forums show the rise of FraudGPT, a malevolent equivalent to ChatGPT. Cybercriminals have been aggressively researching techniques to profit from this technological trend.

FraudGPT is an advanced artificial intelligence tool that was created exclusively for harmful intentions just like WormGPT . This AI bot is capable of a variety of illegal actions, including spear phishing emails and the creation of cracking tools, among other malicious duties. Individuals interested in this tool can have access to it through a variety of Dark Web marketplaces and Telegram.

What is FraudGPT?

FraudGPT, a ChatGPT variation, has the unique ability to generate content exclusively for cyberattacks. This AI model has gotten a lot of interest because it’s available on the dark web and through Telegram which makes it easy for people to find. In July 2023, the Netenrich threat research team spotted advertising for FraudGPT. Notably, one of FraudGPT’s main selling points is the adoption of protections and constraints, similar to ChatGPT, that prohibit it from responding to suspicious requests.

How does FraudGPT operate?

FraudGPT, which Team Netenrich examined and reviewed, works similarly to ChatGPT. The user interface is similar to ChatGPT, with a left sidebar that displays the user’s request history and the main chat window taking up the majority of the screen. Users can get a response by simply typing their query into the given box and pressing “Enter.”

One of the test cases used during the examination featured a phishing email involving a bank. The only user input required was the insertion of the bank’s name in the inquiry format. FraudGPT finished the operation quickly and even recommended where a malicious link could be added to the text…
